Daddys Don't Hug Their Babies (Enough)
She was sitting in the chair in her pretty pink dress.
A tiny bow in her pretty blond hair.
Daddy can I go outside and play.
I won't get dirty
I know it's Easter Day.
In a little while came
A tiny tap
There she stood up all messed her knees all scratched.
Through the mud and the tears
All over her face she cried
Daddy, please hug the hurt away.
She sneaked out of the house when
She was fifteen.
She borrowed the car but
Didn't say anything.
He got a call and the officer
Said you'd better come down.
When he got there she was waiting in line
All he could say was
Are you alright.
With his big strong hand he brushed her face.
And she cried, dady , please hug the hurt away.
Daddy's don't hug their babies enough
Anymore these days.
Whatever happened to saying I'm sorry
And it's okay.
These modern days have done away
With old fashioned ways.
And daddys don't hug their
Babies enough anymore these days.
